Our method of martial arts instruction puts emphasis on cooperative development rather than peer competition. Everyone enjoys the camaraderie, exercise and stress relief studying Uechi-Ryu Karate.
Our style's emphasis on technique over strength makes it a style suited to all ages and both genders. Women, men, boys and girls will all achieve improvements in physical and mental performance - all while having fun!
Classes are designed to provide an excellent workout in a convivial atmosphere. Each class contains segments devoted to warming up and stretching, working on traditional karate skills, various high energy drills of attack and defense, some intense aerobic exercises and a cool down period. Most students attend two classes a week.
Allan Azoff is a certified full-time karate professional who began training in 1978. His current rank is Rokudan, 6th Degree Black Belt. A team of experienced
instructors and senior students assist him in class.
Our school is one of the 14 schools making up the Uechi-Ryu Butokukai. The Butokukai (translated as “a gathering to study the virtues of the martial arts”), is certified by and maintains direct links to the Uechi-Ryu organization in Okinawa.
The Dojo, or main training hall at the Martial Arts Academy, is bright and spacious. The new 2300 sq. ft. main floor provides a superior workout area with a state of the art suspended flooring system to promote health and reduce the risk of injury.
In addition to the main training area, the Martial Arts Academy has changing rooms, a viewing area, a senior student lounge and office space. The entire facility is climate controlled for year-round comfort and there is ample free parking.
Classes run on an open enrollment basis for ages 5-ish and older. Call to arrange a convenient time to discuss our program in depth, or even better, take advantage of our special no-risk
trial
program, which includes: One orientation class, one month of regular group classes, and a high-quality karate uniform. If you choose not to enroll in the program after the first orientation class, there will be no charge and the uniform is yours to keep as our gift.
